We are trialling a method of chemical free weed killing, which uses saturated steam to burst the protein cells in weeds and other undesirable plant life.  

This is great for the organic industry and will be a game changer over the coming years.  Australia, New Zealand, Canada and America are already using this process to eradicate weeds.  Sometimes on a commercial scale.

Steam can be a powerful tool in eradicating weeds in the garden. By using high temperatures to kill weeds systemically. Steam can be an effective and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical methods. This method is especially useful for controlling weeds in areas where traditional methods may not be suitable, such as near water sources or in organic gardens.

The beauty of this approach is that once the weeds have been killed by saturated steam the ground contains NO CHEMICAL residue and can be worked on straight away.  For example, an old lawn can be treated with steam then almost immediately be rotovated and relayed with turf.  So, there is no need for removal of weed laden turf, therby saving labour and disposal costs.

We are in the process of designing and manufacturing a specific machine that is solely responsible for chemical free weed killing.
